Shoe Care Guide

1. Clean Off Dirt & Debris

  • Begin by gently brushing or wiping your shoes with a soft-bristled brush or cloth to remove surface dust and hard particles.

  • For leather, lightly dampen a cloth with mild soap and warm water; wipe gently without soaking.

  • For suede or nubuck: use a special suede brush or eraser, brushing in one direction to lift dirt. Avoid using water on these materials.

2. Dry Naturally

  • After cleaning, let your shoes dry at room temperature — away from direct heat or sunlight.

  • Use newspaper or cedar shoe trees to help absorb moisture and maintain the shoe’s shape.

3. Condition & Restore Leather

  • Apply a quality leather conditioner or shoe lotion to nourish the material and prevent cracking.

  • Rub it in evenly and allow it to absorb for several minutes, then buff with a soft, clean cloth.

4. Polish for Shine & Protection

  • Use a matching or neutral polish (cream or wax). Apply a thin layer evenly across the shoe surface.

  • Let it dry fully, then buff with a brush or cloth for a clean, polished finish.

  • Instant shine sponges can offer quick touch-ups when you're on the go.

5. Apply Waterproofing & Stain Protection

  • Once dry, spray your shoes with a waterproofing protector that suits the shoe material (leather, suede, or nubuck).

  • Always test the spray on a small, hidden area before full application.

  • Reapply periodically, especially after cleaning.

6. Store Properly Between Uses

  • Use shoe trees (preferably cedar) to retain the shape and reduce moisture buildup.

  • Store in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area — avoid plastic bags, damp environments, and direct sunlight.

7. Handle Scuffs & Stains Promptly

  • Scuffs: Use a cloth with leather conditioner or polish to gently buff out marks.

  • Salt stains: Mix two parts water to one part vinegar. Wipe the stain gently, dry naturally, and re-polish.

  • Oil spots: Sprinkle cornstarch or talcum powder on the stain, let it sit overnight, then brush it off.

8. Establish a Care Routine

  • After each wear: Brush off dust and insert shoe trees.

  • Weekly: Clean, condition, and polish.

  • Monthly: Apply waterproof spray.

  • Rotate between pairs to give each one time to breathe and retain shape.
